April showers brings....... my Birthday!

Lets start back when I was born. It was a Friday the 13th. and everyone thought I was going to be a cursed baby. Little did they know I would only bless their lives for the better.

Growing up every few years I had to share my birthday with Mother's day. If you know me at all you know I like the attention on me. Not saying I don't like mother's day because I do. My mother is my best friend and I don't know what I would do with out her. But for me birthdays are a BIG deal. Well this year was a little different.

I started out Monday the week before heading to work and starting my routine for the week. My boss walks past me and says in a stern voice. I need to speak with you in the office. OH CRAP!!! What did I do??? Trying to rack my brain nothing was coming to mind. As I follow him into the office he shuts the door and I sit down on the ever so comfy couch. Oh here it comes. The speech about how the spa could be doing better and with larger spas in our area closing we have a great opportunity to pick up some new clients. BLAH BLAH BLAH oh and we need a manager at the spa would you like the position? WHAT?!?!?! well let me roll over in my mind what is going on here.....Yes it is true I am now the manager at The Dead Sea Spa. It is quite awesome to be doing such great work and having people love what you do for them.
What a great way to start off my birthday week. Yes a WHOLE WEEK dedicated to my birthday!

Jordan and his fiance Maggie (LOVE HER)
I had originally planned a small group dinner for some close friends on Saturday but that got thrown away seeing as some of our friends wanted to go to the Bee's game. So of course me LOVING baseball (can you hear my sarcasm??) decided why not lets go and then we can do dinner after. Catye (Jamie's younger sister) and her husband Mike drove up from Provo to come hang out with us that night. Thank you guys, We love you! All in all the game wasn't that bad. I didn't start to actually watch the game until the 8th inning only because Jamie forced me to. After the Bee's lost we decided on The Pie for dinner. A VERY late dinner.
It was a fun night with good company and good food, But it just wasn't my birthday yet.

Mike and Catye Jones
Dayne and Kristen Peterson
MMmmm The Pie!

Sunday came and went and all I asked for for my birthday was Jamie to go on a walk with me. (He HATES walks) when I said all I asked for was a walk I was kinda hoping for something more. Jamie has never been fond of birthdays so to him it was just another Sunday for napping and playing video games. To me well.....I was kinda bummed we didn't do more. I even hinted at him and asked what was for dinner. His reply whatever you want to make....so I ended up just making Mac and Cheese and picking up a good book to read the rest of the night.  It wasn't quite was I was hoping for it suited my somber mood. The poor guy figured out I wasn't quite myself so he came in and tried making me feel better by singing to me and being his goofy ol' self. I love him more and more everyday for the effort he puts into our marriage. He is not the most romantic man ever but I can tell he loves me and does things his own way to show it.

Jamie promised  he will try harder for birthday's in the future. Did I mention I love this man? I really shouldn't ask for anything more, because I already have it all with him in my life. I Love You Jamie!!

Yours truely

"Happy Birthday to me...(Jamie)"

It all started at Midnight April 30, 2012 I am laying in bed trying to fall asleep. I cover my ears from noises outside and the constant singing from someone a little off tune. I sit up and listen to the noises around me and I realize what the lyrics to the song were. "Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me. Happy Birthday to meeee. Happy Birthday to me." "Happy Birthday to me. I ammmm awesome. Happy Birthday to me and it issss my Birthday." Yeah Really these were the lyrics to Jamie's birthday song he started singing at exactly 12:00 am. Oh boy am I in for a LONG day if he is already singing and this happy.

I finally fell asleep though, for all you who were wondering if that went on all night...no just most of it.

I woke up in the am and decided I was going to have a very productive day today. I made yummy peanut butter pinwheel cookies (which are amazing) and I went to the store and got a few things to dinner this week. I also went running. I decided a few days ago I am going to sign up for another 10K. I know it's not far but it does help me get in shape. Let's see I went to the leasing office and told them we were moving out because they wanted us to pay $200 to upgrade apartments. FORGET IT! I did all of that before I left for work at 11:45 am.

I only had work for 5 hours, but I do feel like I accomplished a lot at work. Such as a new way to apply shellac nails and teaching my new Esthetician how to properly give a pedicure. I got off work rushed home to find Jamie showering and getting ready for dinner tonight. We were meeting up with Catye (Jamie's sister) and her husband Mike as well as Dayne (Jamie's best friend) and his wife Kristen at Famous Daves. Of course he chose Famous Daves for the BBQ but also because Jamie has a fixation for "free meals" he  researches which restaurants give you free meals and he signs both him and I up for them. Did I mention our birthday's are 2 weeks apart go we get to go to all these places twice in 2 months.....It's free right???

All in all dinner was delicious and it only cost each couple $16 with our discount we got for Jamie's birthday. We decided to make a fun night out of tonight and chose the new City Creek Center to meet up. Catye and Mike hopped in with us and we met Dayne and Kristen at the mall. If you guys get a chance to go there it is very pretty and clean! After we explored the mall as best we could we said our fair wells to Dayne and Kristen.   As the rest of us were on our way home we decided to go see a movie.
There is this movie theater we go to where they show new movies but only charge $6 for tickets. It's so amazing we go there often. I think they are starting to know us by name. Just kidding.
We talked Catye and Mike into watching the 3 Stooges with us. Yes the 3 Stooges, and it wasn't Jamie or my first time seeing it. That movie is so ridiculously dumb it is funny! We were the only 4 in the theater and it was probably a good thing because we were laughing to hard it might have made other mad.

All in all Jamie's birthday was a success and we had a good time. Thank you mother for the great card. Jamie loved it.
Thank you Cayte, Mike, Dayne, and Kristen for coming. We love you guys.

A Time of Catching up

Ok so this little part of my life I completely suck at.

I have never been good at keeping a journal and I thought well I am on the computer a lot maybe a blog is the way to go. HAHAHA wrong. I realized I would write maybe once every 6 months and that is pushing it.....Today this is going to change! I am determined to write a blog. My goal is to post one post at least every 2 weeks. Not bad eh? Well It is going to happen. I just hope all of you guys bug me about updating it :)

I want to officially tell everyone the last 7 months in Salt Lake City have been a rough one.  When we first moved here I started working at a Child Care Center (I respect anyone to works child care now) and getting paid $8.50 an hour was just too hard for Jamie and I to live on and the hard work I put in. I went to work at 6:30 am and didn't come home until 4:30 each day. That is 10 hours!!!!! Granted I did have a 2 hour break somewhere in my day. But let me tell you taking care of 2 and 3 year olds is hard work and I have learned SOOOooo much about parenting. Let's just say I would be ready and prepared if Jamie wanted to have an army...JOKE! We are not having kids any time soon. But seriously I learned so many good things working there.
Life has come to a sweet ending at the day care and I finally found a job at a spa! A spa I am completely in love with and I enjoy getting up for work everyday. I love what I do helping women take care of themselves and their skin. It is amazing to watch someone lay on my bed, I perform the service and when they get up they just have a glow about their skin. The Products we use are called Adovia. We import them from Israel and they are all natural products from the Dead Sea. Hence the name of our spa...The Dead Sea Spa :) Let me tell you, I have used MANY different products and this is by far one of the best products I have found. VERY good for your skin. I LOVE MY JOB!!!! thedeadsea-spa.com

Jamie has finished his first year of college (finally) and we made it through our first year of marriage. I couldn't be more proud of him for all he does. He is so amazing and works extremely hard to make me happy (which can be difficult if you know me) and I love him. I can't wait for more years like our first to come.

As far as I can see this is the basics of what has happened the last few months and I am really hoping to keep up on this now.

WE'RE BBBAAAACCCCKKKKK!!!!

Ok so moving SUCKS!!! It is just not my favorite thing to do.

A couple of weeks ago we packed up our little apt. in Newport, OR and headed on our way to Utah. Oh boy! First we  had a stop to make in Reno to see Jamie's sister and her family. So we took off Thursday night and had to stop in Central Point, OR. to stay the night, we didn't quite leave as early as planned and it was getting to late to reach our destination safely.  So we found the cheapest place around....the Marriott :) and had a great night sleep. We got up early the next morning and headed on our way again. We reach Reno around 3:30 in the afternoon and Kelly is not home from taking the boys to violin lessons we wander around her house a couple of hours and take in her new house. we played hide and go seek inside ;) and ran around the house exploring. We had a super fun weekend with them going to a nice restaurant for dinner and then going to Lake Tahoe the next day. Sunday we headed to Sacrament meeting then took off from there back to Utah. LOOONNNGGGG drive but we made it. Monday we moved into our apt. and we could not have done it with out Beth Mathew's help. She was amazing! THANK YOU!  We jumped right into things after that, Jamie started school Wednesday and I started putting the apt. together and looking for a job. Well the apt. has kinda come together but I am still looking for a job. I am hoping soon to hear back from the 50 places I applied :)
I saved the board from the old entertainment center.

Oh did I mention our apartment is TINY! our "Dining room" can't fit a table and chairs so I had to be creative and cheap and make a bar. I found stools at DI for 8 bucks! needless to say it is a first apt...sort of  and we love it!
Little shelves I made out of my old entertainment center that broke . The painting I got at DI for $3.

This is our place and we intend to make it our Home for as long as needed. lol

Until next time readers.....

Summer time flies

So I had once made a promise to myself I would keep up on this blog......well I suck at it. No worries though I will recap the last 2 months in this one post then I will be all caught up :)

So summer time 2011 meant moving back to Newport. Did I mention Newport doesn't really get hot in the summer time. More like 60 degrees with some rainy days and once in a great while we will get a day that is in the 70's. Jamie was not thrilled to move away from the "Hot" Utah weather but when you love someone you make sacrifices right?? haha!

We got to take one quick trip down to Utah to an orthodontist appt. other than that it had been nothing but work.  some days on our days off we got to take a hike or go to the beach. I usually forgot my camera on these days.

We had Breakfast with our good friends from Newport Sharon and Beth Mathews.

riding the ferris wheel right to left Dayne, Jamie, Me, Elliot

Mom was a trooper and went on Wicked! It was so much fun!

I had to work on the 4th of July so we didn't get to do anything on that day. But here on the coast we celebrate our Independence the 3rd and 4th. so Sunday night we packed a blanket and drove to Depoe Bay (15 min north) and layed out on the grass while the fireworks were being shot out right above our heads.

4th of July

At the Beach on the memorial day picnic

We had a ward picnic on memorial day that was fun. Jamie played soccer with the kids most of the time.
Hike we took Sunday afternoon in our backyard.

GIANT BURGER at the 60's cafe
Well that was about the round up of our summer I just wanted to give you a glimpse of how beautiful Newport really is. We had fun this summer and it was a great to share this with my wonderful husband.

What's life without a Honeymoon?

The Honeymoon... So we set off from Newport the Tuesday after our wedding heading to Provo. I had an Orthodontist appointment to get my braces back on. Ugh No one likes braces especially when your a newly wed and 23 years old. We hung out in Utah for the week and went to the festival of colors with our friends. The day after we headed to Reno to see our good friends. After that we were onto our "Honeymoon!"

SAN FRANSISCO...

Standing on Fisherman's Wharf. Golden Gate Bridge behind us.
Oh ALCATRAZ
We spent 4 days in California. Touring all sorts of sites. Alcatraz, Chinatown, Lumbard Street, The Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman's Wharf, and The Trolley rides. We walked all around San Fran exploring new streets and looking at all the interesting people there. While trying to find the riding site for the trolley we stumbled upon a park where we stopped to rest and look up on the GPS where we were a homeless man came up to us a love ballad. It was awesome.

Fisherman's wharf. Jamie really loves the sea lions

So I can't get the photo to rotate...Sorry! This was taken at The Aquarium of the Bay

We had a great time on our Honeymoon. Eating at great restaurants such as Bubba Gumps Shrimp and Some hole in the wall Chinese place.  IT was a great time and I can't wait for my next trip with my wonderful husband.

Festival of Colors

Can you say FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who can not love throwing colored chalk on your friends and random people?
After the wedding was over we had to head back to Utah pronto because I had an appointment to get my braces back on. Ugh. Not fun. But we make the most of it. :)

While we were in Utah we attended the Festival of Colors with our friends. It is a celebration of spring. Thousands of people and college students from BYU and UVU drive 20 min south to Spanish Fork to attend this Festival at the Hare Krishna Temple. We went to the first throwing of colors at 9 am. Bright and Early for some people. :)
Like I said Bright and Early :) Sorry Catye

We packed up the car with sheets and money and Bailey and drove south.

This is Bailey! She is Messina's 4 yr old daughter she is a crack up and we had a lot of fun showing her how to throw the chalk.

You start out clean with one little spot and as the festival goes on you get prettier and prettier covered in chalk.

From right to left: Mike, Catye, Leah, Jamie, Tasha, Bailey, Messina

In the crowd you find the random clean people. With your left over chalk you have nothing better to do than chuck it at them and cover them as well :) Well I just happen to spot 2 VERY clean people on our way out and I bombarded them. MUHahahahahaha

Roy and Elliot
Love you Guys!

And that ladies and gentleman is the Festival of Colors. I hope one day you to can chuck chalk on your friends and loved ones :0
